QUIN
“LORD, if You’ll just give me an idea of what you are planning to do with my life. When I prayed about continuing classes after May graduation there was a clear no. So here, after 14-months of training, equipping, and a multitude of prophetic words about Your plans for me I’m left without a clue. So … just a little idea????”
This was my prayer before walking into my last class, appropriately titled, “Moving Into My Destiny.” To my surprise and delight it didn’t take long for that prayer to be answered. I was greeting by one of the Instructors, Quin Sherrer. To her surprise and delight, she exclaimed, “I’ve been thinking and praying about you! (She had been an instructor for an earlier class) and wanted to see if you might be available to drive me to some of my speaking engagements.”
I am happy to say the rest is my history. Over the past 21 plus years Quin has proven to be the biggest-best answer to that small prayer! She has literally walked with me every step of my destiny with prayer, tears, love, wise counsel and more.
God gifted me with a friend, a counselor, a prayer partner, a writing coach, a cheerleader, and a spiritual mother all wrapped up in one. This energetic, wise, feisty, focused, determined, kingdom-intercessor, loving friend just celebrated her 91st birthday. And she hasn’t changed one bit. She’s still all the above mentioned and more.
Quin doing some of her best coaching
Quin authored or co-authored 32 books, primarily on prayer. She prayed and coached me through the writing of my 3 books. And just this past week said to me, “I want to get that next book out of you.” She went on to say, “Write the idea down. Write the goal down. Pray. (This is the same advice her mentor and writing coach, Jamie Buckingham, gave her.) So, as soon as I finish this tribute, I’m going to do just that. I want to make Momma Quin proud of me.
It’s important for me to honor Quin. Currently she is dealing with health issues and … well, that’s her story to tell and my prayers to pray. I just want her to read this and know just a little of how much I love and value her and am eternally grateful God gifted me with her friendship.
In a recent phone conversation, which lately often sounds like Elijah speaking to Elisha, she mentioned two scriptures she wanted to leave me with. I asked her if she would write them out by hand and send them to me. I received the treasured note the other day.
“The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and well-being will be with you.” Philippians 4:9
Yes, dear Momma Quin, I will. I promise.
Lord, I cannot adequately express my overflowing heart of thanksgiving for ordaining Quin and I to walk together. I bless her. I bless her life, her prayers, her passion, her focus, her tenacity, her willingness to stand in the gap for YOU, for me, for her beloved America and Israel and so much more. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
And Momma Quin, thank you.
Love, Mary Jo
So beautifully said MJ! Thank you for honoring her… I could say ditto but I know you know our hearts are full of so much more!
